After a successful launch in Väike Päike’s classrooms in the fall of 2020, Kide Science will be available via their digital solution, DigiLa. Students and parents in Estonia will be able to bring Kide Science lessons directly into their household.
"The teachers and kids loved the on-site Kide Science lessons, but due to the pandemic we decided to offer online science sessions at DigiLa. It was a natural next step for us," says Sven Soomuste, CFO and CPO of Väike Päike.
With the help of Kide Science resources, anyone can start science education with young children. The lessons are easily adjusted to fit the needs of each teacher.
”At Väike Päike, we have been using the Reggio Emilia approach which meshes very well with Kide Science’s pedagogical model. Kide Science lesson plans help teachers to emphasize children’s active role and creativity. It’s easy to plan science education lessons with their resources because they are easy to understand and adopt in the classroom. It’s lovely to see that kids are lost in the world of experiments, being eager to help the characters in the story. They experience success and start perceiving science as something cool.”
-Marii Maamägi, Teacher at Väike Päike
“Making our lessons remote-friendly was a huge focus of ours and a huge need of our customers last year,” said Aino Kuronen, COO of Kide Science. “Vaike Paike’s adaptation of our platform to an online setting further validates that effort.”
Kide Science has long advocated that science be done anywhere, not just in a lab. We offer time-saving, research-based lesson plans for teachers to use and adapt as fits their classroom, as well as assessment tools to track skill progression, as opposed to traditional tests. To reinforce this, Väike Päike used Kindiedays, a pedagogical management app. Marii Maamägi said that Kide Science and Kindiedays make a perfect match to observe the learning progress of the children.
"We are delighted to start a collaboration in another innovative nation, Estonia,” says Sari Hurme-Mehtälä, Kide Science CEO. “I am happy to see how Väike Päike’s pedagogical approach matches with our program, and look forward to learning together.”
